What it covers

The course covers work at domain and programme level. Topics include scaling and its alternatives, a comparison of the common scaling frameworks together with the decision logic, Conway's Law as an organisational question, and large-group planning with a program board, risk categorisation and a commitment check. One part covers the pattern that underlies all planning formats. Added to that are OKRs and estimation techniques at this level, plus the role work: managing dependencies and preparing and facilitating a planning event for 50 to 200 people.

Why take this course

When a product grows too large for one team, a scaling framework is often introduced. Dependencies, however, can frequently be dissolved through team structure and architecture rather than coordinated. Research attributes the failure of large transformations predominantly to culture and leadership rather than to technology.
